Kingham Hill School 1st Scout Troop

The picture above was taken of the troop whilst returning to school from a week long Jamboree at Picton Castle near Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

The troop leader was young Simon Briggs (front row second left).

Staff: Mr. Stewart Brindley 1948 to 1958 (far left, back row left); Mr. Colin Noble (far right, back row).

"We travelled down in our school bus - a World War II converted Bedford Desert Ambulance. We stopped on the top of a hill just outside of Monmouth to take this picture (left). This international Jamboree was an event with scout troops from the Commonwealth, I remember boys from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and America. We all got our Jamboree badges."

(Looking at the photo above the square patch on the right breast pocket is the badge.)
