Profile
I served an apprenticeship in the printing industry and worked in computer stationery and supplies for a number of years, becoming assistant production manager. After an industrial accident I used my practical experience to move in to a costing and estimating role and ended up as Costing & Estimating Manager for a group of 4 printing companies.
After the company was bought out by a Dutch group, I spent some years in computer supplies and was approached by my present company to control their estimating procedures and purchasing. I am Purchasing Manager for a group of 3 companies and negotiate prices from various countries in Europe, the USA, Japan and the far east.
I am fortunate to control a budget of £12,000,000.
Special Project or Interesting Work
Have been involved in many local projects using my experience and contacts to get things done at a better value.
I think it is important to help people and projects with in my community and usually get landed with one role or another. We have raised monies with road running events, publishing books, jazz festivals and lots more.
My main attribute is in administration - As well as being able to think for myself - Kingham Hill taught me to evaluate information clearly - something that has stayed with me and for which I shall always be grateful.
