So how do I use the chat then??

The chat facilitiy is currently set to list only those people you have already made a connection with in your profile.

To make a connection with someone simply click on their name. At the top of their profile page you will see "Connections". Place your mouse on Connections and click "Request Connection". Once they have accepted your request their name will appear under your "Online Friends" and you can chat to them.

Why don't you make chat available to everyone who is online?

The current feeling is that you would not want to be contacted (disturbed) by just anyone via the chat window but you wouldn't mind if it were someone you were already connected with.

Can I use the chat to get help with something?

If you see me online (Simon) and have made a connection with me I would be happy to chat with you and or provide any help you need. If you make a connection with any of the KHSD team I am sure they would be happy to help via the chat window as well.

Quoting Iain Helstrip:
Not sure that I really understand or see the purpose. Perhaps I am not of the generation that is ecited by facebook or twitter - having never looked or will look at either.
Good luck to those that enjoy though..

Thank you for your feedback Iain. That is just the way you should look at this and every other facility on the website. Some things you will use, others you won't but the main thing is that is there to use if you want to.

As you know we have to provide interesting things to an age range between 16 and 90+ I can honestly say this is not a very easy balance to strike, within the scope of a single website.
