Mr & Mrs Common - Greenwich House Parents 1971 - 1979
Mr T. Charles Common and Mrs Eleanor Common came to Kingham Hill School in 1971 to take up the House Master and House Mistress posts for Greenwich House, along with their four children. Charles Common taught Physics and Maths and had previously taught at Oxford School for Boys.

During their time at Greenwich, they made every effort to create a homely atmosphere for the 28 boys and had fond memories of annual house activities such as Bonfire Nights, sports matches and the Christmas Carol Singing evening, for which Mrs Common would bake vast amounts of ginger breads and mince pies.
Mr Common was also the organist for Sunday services and assisted Mr Sutton with the school choir. He was also a very important person because he ran the tuck shop, and gave it the nickname of 'The Common Market' - very topical in the 1970's.
Mr & Mrs Common left Kingham Hill in 1979. Charles Common continued his teaching career in Oxfordshire and Eleanor Common returned to her primary career of nursing. They retired to the Highlands of Scotland in 1989, where Mr Common continued his passion for playing the organ in various churches.
Both Mr & Mrs Common passed away in 2010, and their ashes now lay together back in Cornwall, where they originated from.
