From KHS in conflict and peace with communications and back again

Nigel Jackson now

I was in Greeenwich House from 1964 to 1971 and I was a School Prefect, Head of Greenwich and CSM of the CCF in my final years.

I joined the Army immediately after leaving school and was trained as an officer at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. I was commissioned into the Royal Corps of Signals in 1973, which gave me the opportunity to combine soldiering with the technical role of providing communications and information technology for military operations around the world.

I was awarded the MBE after a tour with the Special Air Service.

Over the years I served in UK, Germany, Sweden, the Falklands Islands, Cyprus, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan and travelled to numerous other countries in every continent on duty and exercises. I was running off the back of planes right up to my retirement!

In 2008 I became a Strategic Business Director in a large Defence and Security company. In 2011 I became a Non-Executive Director on a Public Sector Board and took up part-time consultancy and voluntary roles.

I look back over my achievements and have no doubt that Kingham Hill School gave me the start in life, determination and aptitude to succeed. I will be forever grateful for the all-round experience and education that Kingham Hill School gave to me.
